I have no idea why pregnant women are allowed (and even encouraged) to get the swine flu vaccine, since all the vaccine manufacturers say that they don't know whether or not it is safe for pregnant women. From the vaccine package insert fda.gov/ downloads/ BiologicsBloodVaccines/ Vaccines/ ApprovedProducts/ UCM190377.pdf "Safety and effectiveness of Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine have not been established in pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children. (page 1) "Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine or FLULAVAL. It is also not known whether these vaccines can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity. " (page 8) "Each dose contains 25 mcg mercury. " (page 9) All the brands say the same things in the package inserts. Here's the link to the package inserts for all the H1N1 brands used in the United States. fda.gov/ BiologicsBloodVaccines/ Vaccines/ ApprovedProducts/ ucm181950.htm |
